Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family as well as service to his community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. Two football. He is among the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the US. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as Oklahoma's main man. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. He settled down in Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. The business venture he started began. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 young men from the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
